2018 Coaches' Biographies
Tony Green - Coach Green is the ultimate professional coach. Joining the Mariners staff in 2013, Tony returns for his 4th year as a Mariner Skipper. Every season he has coach, has been a rewarding experience for both players and parents. The evidence is in the rate of players returning every year for a roster spot on his teams.
A Public school educator since 1988 Tony has the experience and training to relate his knowledge to the young athlete. His attributes are Head Baseball Coach experience at the high school and at the American Legion levels. His teams have won league titles, MIAA Team Sportsmanship Awards, MIAA Team Academic Excellence Awards and participated in MIAA State Tournaments. He has attained Coach of The Year Status as well. We welcome Tony and his experience which will be an asset as he develops the 9U athlete to the best of their ability.
Andy Barlow- Coach Barlow returns as a head coach for the Mariners after being away for a few years to start his family. Andy was a 3 year starter at SS in high school , Captain 2000 & 2001, Most Coachable Award 2000, Team MVP 2001, Metrowest/Milford Daily News All-Star 1999-2001. His team won State and Northeast Championships in 2001, played in American Legion World Series 2001 in Yakima, Washington, team finished 5th in the Nation, voted team MVP 2001. He attended Assumption College where he was a 4 year starter at SS, Captain 2004 & 2005, Northeast-10 Honor Roll 2003-2005, Most Coachable Award 2004, Al Banx Memorial Award 2005, Coach’s Award and Most Valuable Player 2005.
Andy's coaching experience demonstrates he is capable of teaching players to advance there skills to the next level. He coached at the Baseball Coaches Academy (Instructor 1997-2008, AAU Coach 10U, 13U, 14U 2005-2008), Northborough American Legion Assistant Coach (2005), Braintree High School Freshman Baseball Coach (2006-2008), Scituate High School Freshman Baseball Coach (2009-2013), Scituate High School JV Baseball Coach (2014). We are happy to have Andy back for this season as the head coach of the 9U Mariners team!
Michael Larsen - A four year Varsity starter on the Hull High School Baseball team . Michael was a two time winner of the team Sportsmanship Award for outstanding leadership in his Junior and Senior year. After graduating from Hull High School, Michael went on to play at Southern Vermont College. He was a pitcher and infielder. Appeared in many game throughout his career Michael says he learned the most about the game on the teams run to the conference championship in his sophomore season. Since Graduating from SVC in 2013 Michael has been the assistant to Michael O’Donnell with the Hull High Varsity Program and a number of Hull youth team. Michael brings youth, passion, knowledge and energy to our program.
Joe Commesso - Joe was an South Coast Conference All-Star at Bourne High School. He played four years of college baseball, two at Massasoit Community College and two at Eastern Nazarene College. He also excelled playing in both the Cranberry League and the Boston Park League. As a freshman at Massasoit, he hit .352 and saw most of his time at first base and third base. His career .333 batting average in the playoffs through his seasons with Massasoit speak for themselves. He transferred to Eastern Nazarene College my junior year where he led all third basemen in the Commonwealth Coast Conference in fielding percentage. He has been with Atlantic Baseball Club since 2014. We are happy to have Joe as part of the Mariners organization. His ability to teach and make kids all around better baseball players is highly saught after.
Erik Sepeck - Eric joined the Mariners staff in 2012 and coached at the 14U level. Last season he took the 10 year old Mariners to the NEAAU semi finals .We couldn't be more pleased with his performance.. He bring a bundle of energy, enthusiasm and a hard work ethic that is contagious. Eric has the ability to inspire and prod a young athlete to his potential. As a young athlete himself, Erik played for the town of Rockland Travel All-star Teams at the ages of 10,11,12,13. He was primarily used as a pitcher-catcher. Erik's talents earned him MVP during his 12U season, after pitching a complete game 1 hit loss vs. Stoughton in the District Finals. While attending High School at South Shore Tech, Erik was a 4 year Varsity Baseball starter and was named Captain his Senior year. Erik has also served our great country in the US Navy and was a Physical Training Instructor/Coach for the Naval Construction Battalion in 2002-2008. As a civilian Coach Sepeck has directed and coached with the Hanover Youth Athletic Association youth baseball program for 10 years. He has coached summer travel teams and tournament teams at all levels of baseball. Erik currently lives in Whitman with his wife Kerry and 5 children.
Steve Perakslis - The 13U Mariners Open Division Head Coach will be Steve Perakslis. Steve returns at the helm of a Mariners team for his 6th season. He is also the legendary Head Coach of Abington High School Head Baseball Coach for 17 years. Steve was voted the 2010 Mass Coach of The Year and Abington High School was State Champions the same year. He also has over 220 wins as a head coach in his career. His teams continually make the playoffs. Steve is a teacher of the game with a passion second to none. Players love and respect him. Winning is important to every coach but Steve focus is on learning the game and the mechanics needed to ultimately win. Steve’s teams are prepared and play hard.
